There is typically no real downtime for laser hair removal. After laser hair removal, your skin may be slightly uncomfortable, swollen, and red. You can use a cold compress on the treated area. Don't expose the treated area to natural or artificial sunlight. You should be able to go back to normal activities right away.
How Long Do the Results Last?
Although laser hair removal efficiently stops hair growth for extended periods of time, it typically doesn't remove hair permanently. For initial hair removal, several laser treatments are required, and follow-up treatments may be necessary. 2 to 6 sessions are typically needed for laser hair removal. Depending on the location, a different amount of time will pass between treatments.
Depending on how quickly the hair grows, the treatment may need to be repeated after 4 to 8 weeks on places like the upper lip. On areas of slow hair growth, such as the back, the treatment might be every 12 to 16 weeks.
What Do I Need to Do to Prepare for This Treatment?
In the weeks leading up to your procedure, avoid tanning and stay out of the sun as much as possible. Naturally or artificially tanned skin can make laser hair removal less effective and lead to side effects.
Stay away from waxing and plucking, only shave the area that will be treated two to three days before a treatment. Treatments for laser hair removal are ineffective in locations where the hair is longer than a rice grain. Avoid taking anti-inflammatory medications like aspirin that could cause further bleeding.
